Buckeyes get their name both for their coloration and their origin in Ohio. They feature deep red to mahogany feathers with some black, particularly on their wings and tails. They tend to be calm, friendly, and curious and will lay 3 - 5 large brown eggs per week. They are considered an excellent dual purpose bird.
